A shooting incident was reported at a house party in Carson on Friday late at night, as confirmed by police authorities.

Police reported around eight people were injured in the shooting including two severely injured. The victims were swiftly taken to local hospitals, where two of them were categorized as being in critical condition and subsequently underwent surgical procedures.

The details of the conditions of the other six have not been revealed yet.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The shooting happened at a house in the 1500 block of East Abila Street around midnight.

The involvement of multiple shooters in the incident is still not known. As the investigation continued throughout the morning, Abila Street was closed at the scene. The sheriff’s spokesperson mentioned that the shooting could potentially be linked to gang activity.

Police authorities do not have a detailed description of the suspect in the case.

Meanwhile, another shooting occurred outside Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago on Saturday. The shooting reportedly injured five people, out of which four are critically injured. 

According to Chicago Police, Around 4:40 a.m., a gathering of individuals took place outside in the 1900 block of North Stockton Drive. An altercation erupted among them, leading to the escalation of tensions. Eventually, a man produced a handgun and shot multiple rounds.

A 17-year-old girl was also injured in the incident and was rushed to the hospital for medical care.

Ald. Timmy Knudsen (43rd) and North Side state Rep. Margaret Croke in a written statement stated that the group present during the gunfire incident was involved in “reckless behavior” and had been consuming alcohol.

The statement also said, “Let us be clear: this type of violence is unacceptable in our city and as elected officials, we will work to ensure there is a rapid response to deter this from happening again.”
