Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson stepped into the spotlight in the sixth January 6 hearing on Tuesday. 

From eavesdropping a White House conversation to recalling former President Donald Trump’s apathy to the news of his supporters carrying weapons on January 6, 2021, Hutchinson’s explosive testimony left several people stunned. 

Let us take a look at some lesser-known details about her.

1. Hutchinson owns a degree in political science and American studies from Virginia’s Christopher Newport University, according to her LinkedIn account. The page says that she resides in the Washington and Baltimore region.

2. In 2018, she interned at the White House during the Trump administration when she was a college senior. She was also interviewed by her university’s student newspaper for an article titled ‘A Captain in the ‘People’s House.’

“I was brought to tears when I received the email that I had been selected to participate,” she told the newspaper.

 “As a first-generation college student, being selected to serve as an intern alongside some of the most intelligent and driven students from across the nation — many of whom attend top universities — was an honor and a tremendous growing experience,” she added.

3. Hutchinson told the newspaper in 2018 that she was the first person in her family to attend college. According to AP, she is 25 years old.

4. In 2017, Hutchinson was named in her college’s Academic Deans List. 

“Christopher Newport University is pleased to announce the Dean’s List for the spring 2017 semester. These students were enrolled in at least 12 credit hours, earned no final grade below C and earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale. Congratulations to all!” the 2017 list announcement read.

5. Hutchinson also did a political internship for Senator Ted Cruz, according to the student newspaper. 

“I have set a personal goal to pursue a path of civic significance. Interning on Capitol Hill confirmed my desire to continue a path in government, and when I learned about the White House internship I was eager to apply,” she said in 2018.
