The Chicago Fire Department said that a shooting occurred on Sunday afternoon at a South Side CTA stop, injuring at least four persons.

The 95th/Dan Ryan station, which serves the CTA Red Line and multiple buses, is where the incident took place.

According to Chicago police, a 19-year-old guy got into a physical altercation with a suspect on the sidewalk before fleeing into the station’s vestibule, where the suspect pursued him and opened fire.

According to CFD, at least three persons were shot, including a 16-year-old teenager. He was wounded in the shoulder, arm, and lower back, and was brought in serious condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Officials reported that the 19-year-old and an 18-year-old male were shot as well and were rushed to Christ Hospital in critical condition.

During the shooting, a 44-year-old lady was hurt when she fell, according to CFD. She was brought to Advocate Trinity Medical Center.

One man who was waiting to catch a bus home said he saw the whole thing unfold from inside the bus terminal to outside the station.

“They winded up shooting inside, and then they winded up coming around here, shooting outside, literally,” said Savion Lesser. “One of them had a ski mask, and they got into it, and they were arguing and all that, so I was finna walk off, and right when we was about to walk, off we heard shooting.”

Lesser said the argument appeared to have involved three people.

“One upped the gun and the other one upped his gun and they started shooting,” Lesser said.

The CTA initially claimed that police activity had caused the suspension of Red Line service between 95th and 87th, but later claimed that service had been restored.

Additional information concerning the shooting was withheld by officials for a short while. Detectives from Area two are looking into it.
