Tragedy unfolded on the Southwest Side of Chicago on Thursday night as a woman lost her life in a shooting near a motel, according to Chicago police. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. in the 7700-block of South Cicero Avenue.

Upon responding to the scene, officers discovered a woman, estimated to be between 30-35 years old, suffering from gunshot wounds to the neck and back. The victim was engaged in a verbal altercation with a male suspect, as reported by a witness. The situation escalated when the suspect produced a handgun and fired at the woman before swiftly fleeing the scene.
