Lousiana Representative Clay Higgins was trolled on Wednesday for pushing a protestor – identified as Jake Burdett – from a press conference.

The Republican was speaking along with Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) at a MAGA rally. He was interrupted by a protestor.

Higgins was then seen yelling at the man and pushing him out of the press conference.

“Get off me! You’re hurting me!” Burdett can be heard saying in a video that is going viral on social media.

“You’re out,” the congressman said.

Watch:

“I am currently being detained by DC Police for asking tough questions to far right extremist Congressmen @RepGosar and @laurenboebert at a press conference. Rep Clay Higgins proceeded to assault/physically remove me from the press conference. For this, the cops detained me,not him,” Jake Burdett tweeted after the incident.

Social media users trolled Higgins for pushing the protestor.

“This is Republican fascist Clay Higgins physically assaulting an activist. I hope the guy sues him and presses charges,” a Twitter user said.

“This is outrageous and what “freedom of speech” looks like for MAGA Republicans. Watch Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) drag a kid for asking hard questions. This is how fascism starts. Wake up America. Vote!” another one added.

“Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA), seen here shoving someone for asking him a question, is a former police officer who once resigned his position while facing discipline for… you guessed it, use of unnecessary force,” a third one tweeted.

Others present at the press conference were heard shouting at Higgins to let the protestor go and ‘calm down’.

Burdett had recorded himself confronting Gosar during a speech. Higgins blocked him to say: “Let this man talk and then I’ll come to talk to you privately.”
