As per the tweet from the CSU account, the suspect is believed to be armed and wearing black pants and a hoodie.

The alert concludes “Call 911 if seen. Avoid area.”

The Larimer sheriff’s office also reported “Just after 4:00 pm LCSO deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 400 block of South Overland Trail in Fort Collins. Deputies are searching for the suspect. Traffic blocked on Overland Trail between Laporte and Mulberry. Avoid the area.”

Meanwhile, they informed CSUPD that the initial suspect description might not be accurate and a description is unknown at the time.

The sheriff’s office further said, “Overland Trail has reopened to traffic. Media staging is still at Overland Sub-Station, corner of Overland Trail and Mulberry.”

While CSU doesn’t allow firearms on campus, those in possession of weapons can check them in with CSU police, who promise safe storage. Even if someone has a concealed weapon permit, they cannot carry guns onto the college premises.

Colorado recognizes the concealed carry permit, but no guns are allowed in the Residence Halls, CSU Apartments, Health Network Facilities, and Residence Life Dining Centers.
