Former WCW and Impact Wrestling star Daffney Unger passed away after appearing to hold a gun and threatening self-harm in an Instagram Live
session on Wednesday night.
Her death was confirmed in a
statement from fellow wrestler Lexie Fyfe on Thursday afternoon. Posted to
Shimmer Wrestling’s official Twitter account, the statement attributed to Fyfe
read: “We are very sad to have to announce the passing of Shannon Spruill
aka Daffney Unger @screamqueendaff.”

“We are posting this at the
request of her family. Please respect their privacy at this trying time. I will
miss you my logical sister from another mister.”
The cause of death has not yet been
confirmed.
“Do you guys not understand that
I am all alone?“ Unger – whose true name is Shannon Spurill – can be heard
stating in her video as she begins to cry.
She kept asking whether anybody understood before
pleading “just please stop” and getting increasingly agitated.
“Remember, my brain goes to Boston,” she said as she was spotted
holding what looked to be a small pistol. As soon as Unger’s heart-breaking
video went viral on social media yesterday, the wrestling world banded around
to attempt to help her.

The news of her passing away has rocked the
wrestling world. Professional wrestler Ettore Ewen
wrote: “I’m so sorry to everyone who knew and loved Daffney Unger.
“If you’re struggling with
your mental health, please don’t be afraid to be a burden. Reach out for help.
It saved my life.”
Retired pro-wrestler Taz said:
“Daffney was such a nice person, so talented but just really nice”
The publication Wrestling Travel
also issued their condolences, writing: “The news of Daffney Unger’s
passing is utterly heartbreaking.”
