Romero’s horror masterpiece Dawn of the Dead, passed away on January 20, 2024, at the West River Health Campus in Evansville, Indiana. He was 77 years old, and details of his passing are not known.

Emge’s acting journey unfolded uniquely. While working as a chef in a New York City restaurant, he encountered George A. Romero, who cast him as Stephen in Dawn of the Dead. Beyond this iconic role, Emge also contributed to films like Basket Case 2 and Hellmaster.

Born in Evansville, Emge studied drama at the University of Evansville and served in the U.S. Army. His initial stage appearance was at the Pittsburgh Playhouse in 1971, followed by his film debut in the comedy movie The Booby Hatch. Despite his fame, Emge returned to live theatre after his role as Flyboy.

The Vietnam veteran is survived by his three sisters, Sue Berry, Kathleen Wittgen, and Barbara Rexing, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Details about hai wife are not known.
