Former President Donald Trump spoke on Saturday, at a rally in Selma, North Carolina, where he said he could perhaps be the most honest man God created. Trump was there, extending support to GOP candidates for their upcoming election bids.

There, he narrated a story involving an anonymous friend who supposedly told Trump how he’d remained squeaky clean during his tenure. Trump apparently replied he’s “the cleanest on Earth”, even as a special panel has been set up to investigate the former president’s involvement in the January 6 Capitol riots, where his supporters staged an insurrection in a bid to overturn the 2020 election.

Trump, who’s also facing a contempt of court charge filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James for refusing to turn over documents, pertinent to the investigation of his company, continued recounting this conversation. He said, “You know, you’ve been investigated years and years, millions and millions of pages of documents, they found nothing”, adding, “You are the cleanest on Earth when you think about it”.

Then, Trump addressed the local sheriff, saying, “I’ve got to be the cleanest, I think I’m the most honest human being, perhaps, that God has ever created”.

He took swipes at James’ ongoing investigation too, saying “stop the crime and the bloodshed that is raging uncontrollably in Democrat-run cities and New York, Letitia James, New York has got disasters numbers a record amount. Letitia James should be focusing on New York instead of ‘Let’s get Trump”.

The controversial former president had already compared himself to Al Capone and popular wild west characters when speaking of the investigations, saying “I’ve been investigated by the Democrats more the Billy the Kid, Jessie James and Al Capone combined. And in all cases, I’ve been innocent.”

As in previous rallies, Trump also criticized the Joe Biden administration on several issues, including the Russia-Ukraine war and rising fuel prices in America.
