The city of Mankato has released the picture of a suspect, Bashir Mohamed after a shooting was reported in the early morning hours at Echo Street. The suspect is “believed to be involved in a shooting incident that occurred before 9 a.m. this morning on the 100 block of Echo Street.”

A shooting incident at 115 Echo Street at Mankato, Minnesota has made the police put the entire area under lockdown, according to reports. The police scanner traffic suggests that an individual had called 911 at 8:40 AM (local time) in the morning, reporting that her friend’s residence at Mankato Tower Apartments on 115 Echo Street, was broken into by an assailant who went on to shoot the latter.
The Mankato city authorities have also asked people in and around Echo Street to take shelter while the police search goes on. Check out their statement on Twitter right here:

By 9:20 AM, an emergency alert was sent out for the residents of Echo Street and the nearby Mayo Clinic Health System on the campus of the Mankato hospital. The clinic had also put out a message on Twitter saying that “The Mankato hospital is currently on lockdown due to an isolated shooting at an apartment facility nearby.” The tweet also suggested that the hospital authorities were in contact with Mankato Public Safety in order to assess the situation.

At around 10:00 AM, authorities had sent in buses in order to evacuate the residents of the Mankato Tower Apartments from the area. 35 minutes after that, law enforcement officials entered the building from the sides. The police had also blocked off the areas nearby Echo Street and have been patrolling the area. Eagle Lake police, state patrol, as well as first-responders, are present in the area.

The Mankato government, on its website, has stated that Mohamed is aged around 30 and is 6 feet and 2 inches tall. The statement also says, “Mohamed is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.”
