A fire broke out in the Tiffany building on Manhattan Fifth Avenue, on Thursday, which was recently refurbished.

Smoke could be seen billowing out of the Tiffany & Co. building. A swarm of firefighters from FDNY had gathered on the scene and are currently trying to put out the fire. Spectators filmed the scene from a safe distance from the street. Here are a few videos that have been uploaded on social media of the situation:

The cause of the fire is not currently known. Thick, grey smoke could be seen coming out of the ground floor of the landmark store window at 10 am on Thursday.

According to Daily Mail, the building had reportedly undergone a long and expensive refurbishment. The reopening of the building was attended by A-list celebrities such as Katy Perry, Hailey Beiber, and Blake Lively in April this year.

In 2021, the European luxury brand, LVMH acquired Tiffany for $16 billion. Many experts believed that the rough estimated cost for the renovations was around $500 million. However, when Bernard Arnault, LVMH’s chairman and owner was asked to confirm the figure earlier this year, during the interview, he refused to do so.

This is a developing story.
