At least two people suffered injuries following a gas explosion at a baseball stadium in Lake Elsinore on Friday evening. The stadium was evacuated and Friday and Saturday’s games were postponed.

What we know so far about the incident –

1.The explosion took place around 4:20 pm at the Lake Elsinore Diamond. The stadium is the home of the Lake Elsinore Storm, which is a Single-A minor league affiliate of the San Diego Padres. 

2.A natural gas line reportedly burst inside the home team’s locker room.

3.At least two people sustained injuries and were rushed to Wildomar’s Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital for treatment. According to reports, the victim suffered moderate injuries.

4.The stadium was immediately evacuated.

5.Storm’s game against the Inland Empire 66ers was postponed.

“Due to an incident at the stadium, today and tomorrow’s game will be postponed until further notice,” the team tweeted.

The San Diego Padres also released a statement saying, ‘Tonight’s game in Lake Elsinore has been postponed due to an accident in the home clubhouse. While no players were involved, our thoughts and prayers go out to the contracted workers who were injured. We will be providing assistance to the Storm and those affected by the incident, and we will provide updates on their game schedule when appropriate.”

6.The cause of the explosion remained under investigation.
