A 26-year-old Georgia police officer died during his first shift after he was shot by a man, who was taken into custody, investigators said.
The cop, identified as Dylan Harrison, was shot outside the Alamo police station on Saturday afternoon. His body has been sent for an autopsy and investigators are yet to release any details related to what led up to the shooting.

Meanwhile, the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Damien Anthony Ferguson, was taken into custody after a blue alert was issued for him.
“The State of Georgia Special Weapons and Tactical Team (SWAT) took Damien Ferguson into custody without incident. Intel provided by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshals Service was instrumental in capturing Ferguson. This apprehension is an example of a collaborative effort among local, state, and federal authorities,” Georgia Department of Public Safety said in a statement.

Meanwhile, tributes poured in for the officer, who was survived by his wife and six-month-old baby.
“Early this morning, one of our law enforcement officials in Middle Georgia was killed in the line of duty. Our thoughts and prayers are with this officer’s family, friends, and colleagues at the Alamo Police Department,” Georgia Governor Brian Kemp wrote on Twitter.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety wrote, “We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Alamo Police Department’s Officer killed in the line of duty early this morning. We send our thoughts and prayers to the Officer’s family, blood and blue.”
Speaking to local media, Lisa Milks, the officer’s mother-in-law, called him someone who dedicated his life to service.
“He was super nice to everybody, give you the shirt off his back no matter what. He was always professional,” Milks said.
