Goshen, California saw a mass shooting on Monday morning that has reportedly left six individuals, including a 17-year-old mother and her infant, dead. The incident occurred in a home and the police are currently on the lookout for two suspects.

Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said that officers were dispatched for the site sometime around 3:30 AM local time. In a press release, the sheriff’s office said, “The reporting party thought an active shooter was in the area because of the amount of shots being heard.”

Sheriff Mike Boudreaux told reporters that his deputies had found the bodies of two victims on the street while another one was found at the doorway of the house where the shooting occured.

When they stepped inside the house, deputies discovered three more bodies. One of the victims, a man, was still breathing when the police arrived and was taken to the hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

The sheriff said regarding the incident, “We also believe this was not a random act of violence. We believe this was a targeted family.”

The sheriff said investigators are searching for at least two suspects. They believe there is a gang connection to the killings. The sheriff’s office conducted a narcotics-related search warrant at the residence last week, Boudreaux said.

Goshen is a semi-rural community of about 3,000 residents 35 miles (56 kilometers) southeast of Fresno in the agricultural San Joaquin Valley. Goshen’s current population is 5,387.
