Here’s to apply for Biden-Harris’ student debt relief:

1) Applicants can sign up now to the website – https://studentaid.gov/debt-relief/application.

Later this month, the form will be available on a government website, along with a mobile version. Furthermore, the form will be available in Spanish for greater accessibility.

2) Anyone who applies for debt relief during the beta period will receive a confirmation email, but their application will not be processed until the site formally launches, which is expected before the end of October at a yet-to-be-announced date. Most qualifying borrowers are expected to receive debt relief within weeks of the start of processing.

3) To qualify, borrowers must have federally guaranteed student loans. Federal PLUS loans taken out by graduate students and parents, in addition to federal Direct Loans used to pay for undergraduate degrees, may also be eligible if the borrower satisfies the income requirements.

4) Unless a borrower applied to consolidate those loans into Direct loans by September 29, borrowers with federal student loans that are guaranteed by the government but held by private lenders are currently excluded. Many of these loans were made under the former Federal Family Education Loan programme and Federal Perkins Loan programme.
