The Halloween episode of the Saturday Night Live, the last one ahead of the November 3 US presidential elections had a scathing rebuke of the 45th US President Donald Trump. Hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che were focused on the forthcoming Presidential elections.

In his opening monologue Jost referred to the unsavoury comment made by Trump on doctors profiting from the death of patients, and in a stinging rebuke added, “that’s our President, recently saved by our doctors.”

President Donald Trump, who recently recovered from COVID-19 after testing positive for the virus on October 2, was admitted to the Walter Reed Medical Centre after oxygen saturation in his blood had dipped. He was later discharged from the hospital and made full recovery.

Jost then joked that Trump “had survived COVID-19, so that he did not have to pay his doctors.”

Jost also referred to an untoward scenario from a Trump rally in Nebraska where supporters were stranded in freezing temperatures after the President left the venue. Alluding to Trump’s nature of ‘gas-lighting,’ Jost took a jibe at the sitting President saying even all that heat could not keep his supporters warm.

He added that some Trump supporters had to be hospitalised with hypothermia. He then took a sharp dig at President Trump saying “he is not trying to kill his supporters, he has succeeded in killing his supporters.”

Jost then referred to a report recently published by Stanford which states that President Trump’s rallies were linked to 30,000 coronavirus cases and had killed 700 Amercians.

Another joke by Jost took a sinister turn when he said, “He (President Trump) has officially killed more people in the Mid-West than Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy combined.” Jost’s joke took a dark turn astounding viewers and fellow host Michael Che took over

Michael Che then joked about American rapper Lil Wayne’s endorsement of Trump and added that rappers weren’t black leaders.

Che also joked about how Americans could face a race war after Tuesday and added “I don’t know what this world’s going to be after Tuesday.”

Jost who recently tied the knot with actor Scarlett Johansson was teased by fellow host Che during the show. Che also referred to an NYPD officer who was suspended after he announced ‘Trump 2020” on his loudspeaker. Che took a sarcastic dig saying police officers are, “ only allowed to whisper Trump 2020 after choking someone out.”

In the last episode ahead of the Presidential election, Jost ended the show with a monologue saying ‘America needs a designated driver,” alluding to Biden and followed it up with a clip of 44th US President Barack Obama shooting hoops, saying “I hope he(Joe Biden) brings this guy(Obama) with him.”
