Due to this, former U.S. President Carter has now chosen to forgo additional medical treatment in favor of hospice care, the Carter Center announced in a statement on Saturday. According to the statement, he would “spend his remaining time at home with his family.”

“He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers,” the center said in a statement.
