Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has won the swing state of Wisconsin in the US presidential election. While Biden won 49.4% of the votes, Republican candidate won 48.8%, reported CNN.

Earlier trends saw Trump winning Wisconsin, however a late flip resulted in a victory for the former vice-president

The win in Wisconsin gave Biden 10 electoral college votes and this takes Biden’s tally to 237, with Donald Trump having 214 electoral votes.

The electoral college with a strength of 538 ultimately decides the presidential winner. A candidate needs the magic number of 270 electoral college votes to make his way to the White House.

The state of Wisconsin is among the battleground state that heavily impact the election’s outcome.

A Democratic bastion, the Badger state voted for a Democrat in seven elections, from 1988 through 2012. However, Democratic Al Gore and John Kerry, won by a small margin, in 2000 and 2004, respectively.

In 2016, Trump defeated the then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton by 0.7% of votes.
