Joe Biden on Thursday posed for a selfie with alleged IRA member and former Irish nationalist party Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams. The US President was trolled on social media, with several Twitter users calling him anti-British.

Biden addressed a joint session of parliament at Leinster House in Dublin. The 80-year-old recounted one of his grandfather’s favorite saying: “If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, you’re lucky enough.”

“No barrier is too thick or too strong for Ireland and the United States of America. There is nothing the two nations cannot do when they do it together,” Biden added.

“For too long, Ireland’s story has been told in the past tense. We tell stories of days gone by. It is good to remember stories of Irish great and genius, saints and scholars, poets and politicians, and let’s face it, they’re good stories.”

Concluding Day 2 of his three-day tour of Ireland, Biden – in a bizarre manner – said “Let’s Go Lick The World, Let’s Get It Done!” The phrase means nothing.

Twitter users also trolled the US President for his selfie with Adams. The Irish leader has been fighting for a united Ireland and end of the British rule. He has always denied his association with the IRA but rumours do link him with the organisation.

Adams was the chief was Sinn Fein. He stepped down in 2018 after 30 years. The 74-year-old posted a picture with Biden.

“A President Biden Selfie.” he captioned the selfie.

“Corrupt Joe Biden poses for a selfie with alleged IRA member and former Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams – after his advisors scrambled to insist he was NOT anti-British,” a Twitter user said.

“British media insulting President Biden left, right and centre. What could possibly make them think he is anti British 🤔,” another one added.
