BuzzFeed News, the Pulitzer Prize-winning news division of BuzzFeed.com, will wind up its operations, CEO Jonah Peretti announced on Thursday. The shutdown is part of a new round of layoffs at the company that will reduce its workforce by nearly 15%.

Pretti said the job cuts would also impact its business, content, tech, and administrative teams. The company is also considering to slash workforce in some international markets.

In a memo to the staff, Peretti said that he made the decision to overinvest in the news arm, but failed to recognize early enough that the financial support required to sustain operations was not.
