Police in Kingston, Massachusetts, responded to a shooting incident Sunday. Officers arrived at a home and found two people dead.

Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said that the incident was an apparent murder-suicide.

Kingston police received a 911 call from a family member of the two people about a shooting inside the residence at 257 Elm Street.

A 45-year-old man was found dead outside the home with an apparent gunshot wound. A 45-year-old woman was found dead inside the home, according to Cruz.

The couple also had a young daughter. However, officers did not reveal if she was home at the time of the incident.

Cruz said that investigators found that the shootings were not random acts of violence. In a statement, the Kingston Police Department said the initial investigation points to a murder-suicide.

Authorities are also investigating the motive behind the shooting.

The deaths are being investigated by Kingston police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to Cruz’s office.

“There is no threat to the public. The incident remains under active investigation. If appropriate, more information will be released at a later date. Please contact Sergeant Detective Michael Skowyra with any information at [email protected],” the police department wrote on Twitter.
