US President Joe Biden told Americans on Wednesday during his
first address to the Joint Session of Congress that US had been able to pull off
a logistical victory during its battle with the coronavirus pandemic.

“Because of you, the American people, our progress
these past 100 days against one of the worst pandemics in history is one of the
greatest logistical achievements our country has ever seen,” Biden said in
his address.

The President further noted that deaths of senior citizens
has taken an almost 80% plunge since January.

The day after US President Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony
on January 20, 2021, the Biden-administration published a series of strategies to
outline its COVID-19 response.

Divided essentially in seven phases, the plan started with
restoring trust of the American people and ended with restoring US leadership
globally and be better prepared for similar threats in the future.

In between, it discussed several things, including a safe
and effective vaccination campaign, reducing chances of spreading coronavirus
through masking, testing and treatment, increasing the extent of emergency
relief, safely opening schools and businesses, and protecting those most
at-risk.

The plan, in between January and April, seems to have been implemented, too.

About 235 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the US till Wednesday, as per data by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which added that about 43% of the total population, amounting to nearly 143 million people, have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

It further noted that 29.5% of the population, which roughly translates to 98 million people, are fully vaccinated.

Going forward, the administration’s stance has notably been
that of ‘listen to science’: a notable shift from the previous regime under
former president Donald Trump.
