Singer and
co-founder of Supremes, Mary Wilson died on Monday night aged 76 at her home in
Las Vegas. The news of her death was declared by her publicist Jay Schwartz in
a statement, however, the cause of her death has not been confirmed yet, as per
BBC. Wilson founded the all-girl vocal group in 1959 in a Detroit housing
project when she was 15-years-old. The group garnered tremendous popularity
during 1960s with the act of “Motown Roads” and also rose to No. 1 singles on
the musical charts.

Initially,
the main members of the group were Diana Ross, Florence Ballard and Barbara
Martin but soon Martin left the group before they were even popular, leaving
the other three as a group. Later they also separated in 1977 following Wilson’s departure.

The singer, just two days before her death, posted a
video on her YouTube channel declaring about her work with the Universal Music of
releasing solo song, along with the unreleased album “Red Hot” which she
recorded with producer Gus Dudgeon in the 1970s. She said in the video, “Hopefully
some of that will be out on my birthday, March 6”.
