Merritt Island High School was placed on a temporary lockdown Thursday afternoon due to an unspecified incident at a nearby AT&T store, officials said, as per Florida Today. No shooting was reported.

The report added that at about 3:25 PM local time, there was an incident in the parking lot of the store at 1070 North Courtenay Parkway. The AT&T is 0.2 miles from the school.

Merritt Island High School Principal James Rehmer sent an email to the parents saying that there was no incident on campus.

“I want to reiterate the incident was isolated and DID NOT involve our school OR students,” he said.

School officials and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office placed the school in lockdown until the area was secured, Rehmer said.
