“Fashion’s biggest night” was held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum on Tuesday and pop star Rihanna made heads turn not only with her dressing choice but also her late arrival. Wearing an all-black Balenciaga, the 33-year-old ‘Desperado’ singer was the last to arrive on the red carpet for Met Gala 2021, themed “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” this year. She was accompanied by 32-year-old rapper boyfriend ‘ASAP Rocky’, who also wore an oversized coat to the couple’s first Met Gala together.

While Met Gala was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rihanna had skipped the fashion fundraiser’s 2019 edition after co-hosting Met Gala 2018 alongside Anna Wintour, Amal Clooney and Donatella Versace.

Rihanna recently announced on Instagram that she will be hosting  the Met Gala 2020 afterparty.  She shared a photo of an invite that read, “Annual Gala After Party hosted by Rihanna.”

In 2013, an Australian crowd booed Rihanna when she showed up an hour and 20 minutes late for a show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre instead of 9 pm. Some fans even chose to leave the venue, according to The Australian, while others greeted her with boos when she finally took the stage.

Rihanna didn’t offer an apology and said he taken a “a long, long time to get back to Australia”.

While many of the singer’s fans were disappointed by Rihanna’s late arrival, others were impressed by how the ‘Rude Boy’ singer had managed to “steal the show” despite being the last to arrive for the benefit event.
