An active shooter situation in Floyd Count of Allen, Kentucky, late on Thursday night resulted in multiple officers getting shot.

The situation unfolded around 5pm local time when deputies attempted to serve the suspect a court-issued warrant. Upon approaching the suspect’s house, the deputies were shot at, and multiple agencies responded.

The suspect had also barricaded himself inside the house and had two hostages, believed to be his spouse and daughter.

Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt confirmed to local media that several officers from multiple agencies had been shot and had been admitted to different hospitals.

There was no information on the total number of victims or their current condition, but Floyd County radio station WMDJ FM 100.1 reported that the number of officers injured stood at four.

The radio station also reported that the suspect had been apprehended after the arrival of a Kentucky State Police (KSP) SWAT team, and that both hostages had been rescued and were safe. The identities of the suspects and victims were unknown at the time of writing this article.

As investigation into the shooting continues, Route 1428 through Allen will be closed for the next few hours, and residents have been advised to take alternate routes.

Meanwhile, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear put out a public statement after the incident and condemned the shooting.

“Tonight I ask the commonwealth to join Britainy and me in holding Floyd County in prayer, especially the family and loved ones of those who have responded to a barricade situation involving a shooting,” the 44-year-old Democrat wrote on Facebook.
