The Raiders versus
Chargers game on Monday was delayed due to lightning causing a great deal of
ire among fans. Lightning was seen near SoFi Stadium moments before the game
was scheduled to start. Shortly thereafter, the public address announcer said
that the game would be delayed and asked fans to vacate their seats.
The game was
initially set to kick off at 8:15 pm ET, but started nearly 35 minutes later.
The decision to delay the game due to the inclement weather came from the NFL
headquarters, according to media sources.

The announcement
was not taken well by anyone. Raiders coach Jon Gurden had a priceless response,
which can be seen here:
While several fans
on social media wondered why an indoor stadium had to delay play because of
lightning, the openings on the sides of the stadium were one of the reasons for
the delay in Monday night’s game.

The Chargers hope
to hand the Raider’s their first loss of the season on Monday. Los Angeles is
currently 2–1 after defeating the Chiefs last week in Arrowhead Stadium.
Meanwhile, the
Raiders are likely to be the favourites in the stadium. As Derek Carr said that
it always feels like home to be playing at the SoFi Stadium. When the Raiders
walked out, there were more cheers for them than the home team.
