“There is no time to waste when it comes to tackling the crises we face. That’s why today, I am heading to the Oval Office to get right to work delivering bold action and immediate relief for American families,” tweeted 46th President of the United States of America Joe Biden after the oath on Wednesday.

The 78-year-old, in his inaugural speech, said, “This is America’s day. This is democracy’s day. A day of history and hope. Today we celebrate not just the triumph of a candidate but of a cause. The cause of democracy. The people and their will has been heard. We have learnt again that the democracy is precious and fragile and at this hour democracy has prevailed.”

Stressing on the importance of unity in the country, he said, “I know the forces that divide us are deep and they are real. But I also know they are not new. Our history has been a constant struggle between the American ideal that we are all created equal, and the harsh ugly reality that racism, nativism, fear, demonisation have long torn us apart.”

Biden is the oldest person to be sworn in as President and is likely to begin unwinding former President Donald Trump’s policies on immigration, climate and other issues with at least 15 executive actions on day 1.
