A man was shot and killed outside Illinois Secretary of State in suburban Bridgeview on Wednesday at around 1:35 pm and the police arrested two suspects, US media reports said.

Bridgeview police said the incident happened at 7368 West 87th Street. The victim was pronounced dead after being taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, initially in critical condition.

The person killed hasn’t been identified, pending family notification.

Police gave chase to a vehicle the shooter fled in and it appeared he had an accomplice, according to Chicago Tribune reports.

Two suspects were taken into custody near 99th Street and Roberts Road and later arrested after they abandoned their vehicle following a foot chase.

According to inputs from the police, the shooting took place outside of the building in the parking lot, CBS Chicago reported. Although the victim was not an employee of the Secretary of State’s Office.

The office is closed with people inside. The Secretary of State’s Office said they’re being kept indoors for their safety.

Authorities said they believe this was an intentionally planned shooting targeting the victim, Chicago Tribune reported.
