An evacuation order has been issued in the vicinity of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The evacuation is a response to an ongoing propane tank fire in the area.

The incident is said to be occurring in the vicinity of 40th Street and Washington. The fire is located near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, but airport operations remain unaffected.

As a precaution, Valley Metro officials have adjusted the routes of westbound light rail trains, which will now terminate at the 50th Street and Washington station. Similarly, eastbound trains will stop at 38th Street and Washington. Shuttle bus services have been requested to assist commuters during this time.

Multiple firefighters and emergency agencies are responding to explosions at a propane tanker yard near Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport in Arizona. Authorities have issued a one-mile evacuation radius due to potential further large explosions. The black smoke and multiple explosions are visible from several miles away.

Authorities have warned that the involved propane tanks may shoot up “over 1,000 feet into the air.” The exact number and sizes of the tanks involved are currently unknown.
