At the moment, Pine Bush High School is on lockdown as law enforcement personnel from various police departments look into an ‘Active Incident’. On April 26, 2023, at 12:40 p.m., the school went into lockdown.

Pine Bush High School is in the Town of Crawford, New York. The Crawford police department in a statement said “Everyone is secure”. The reports of an active shooter were determined to be unfounded, according to New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.

One student’s parent told Mid-Hudson News that children are terrified as the cops are searching the school ‘room by room’.

“There is no threat to the community,” Nevel said. “Parents don’t need to be concerned. All of the kids are being released and are safe.” He also added, “The school went into lockdown, and we followed standard operating procedure. Kids were locked in rooms while a systematic search was done to make sure there was no validity to this threat, and right now it turns out to be unfounded.”

According to Nevel, the school was shut down for around three hours before pupils and staff were gradually let go of the campus at three o’clock, or about an hour above the scheduled dismissing time. No staff members or students were hurt in the incident.

As per Nevel, the Crawford Police Department received a call early on Wednesday reporting a shooter at the high school. However, officers later discovered the caller was making up the situation. The police are not currently disclosing information about the caller.

Parents, guardians, and buses continued scurrying to get kids out of the school on Wednesday. “Obviously concerned parents want to be with their kids, and they want to make sure their kids are safe and to hug them,” Nevel said. “Even when these shooter things are unfounded, the initial fear of any parent is just immediate panic.”
