Authorities are actively searching for an individual following an incident in which a police officer was shot while responding to a domestic disturbance in North Versailles early Friday morning. At approximately 3:39 a.m., North Versailles officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Arlington Avenue in response to a domestic call.
According to Allegheny County Police Superintendent Christopher Kearns, gunshots were reported outside the residence. Upon arrival, officers located a suspect in the alley behind the 200 block of Arlington Avenue. The suspect, upon confrontation, ignored officers’ commands, brandished a handgun, and fired shots at the officers. One of the North Versailles officers sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange. In response, the officers returned fire, prompting the suspect to flee on foot.

The injured officer was swiftly transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in “good condition,” as stated by Superintendent Kearns. In the aftermath of the incident, law enforcement officers from various municipalities have strategically positioned themselves around different areas within a one-mile radius of the scene. Notably, officers have focused on a wooded area, deploying drones and K-9 units with handlers to aid in the search.

Furthermore, a handgun was observed adjacent to an evidence marker on Delaware Avenue, approximately a block away from the location of the gunfire exchange. The ongoing investigation involves an intensive search for the suspect, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies in ensuring public safety and apprehending the individual involved in the shooting incident.
