Guns are not difficult to obtain in Pennsylvania. Neither a state permit nor a firearm registration is required in the state for owning guns. Permits are also not required for owning assault weapons or carrying any firearm openly. During the time of purchase of a gun within the state, the buyer has to undergo a PICS (Pennsylvania Instant Check System) check, but those bringing guns into or outside the state do not have to go through any such assessment.

According to the Constitution of Pennsylvania’s Article 1, section 21, “The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.”
