Documentary on Princess Diana will be released in theatres
in 2022. Altitude and Lightbox, the producers of the project, say that the film
will be the “first theatrical release documentary ever to be made about
the Princess of Wales” and mark the 25th anniversary of the her
“tragic death”, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

The film will be directed by Academy Award nominee Ed
Perkins .

“After its worldwide theatrical release, the film –
produced in association with HBO and Sky – will have its television premiere on
HBO and stream on HBO Max in the U.S.; and on Sky Documentaries in the U.K,”
said the production companies

“Diana is the first theatrical release documentary ever to
be made about the Princess of Wales and is slated to open in cinemas worldwide
in the summer of 2022 to mark the 25th anniversary of Diana’s tragic death,”
the companies added.

Production company Lightbox was founded by producer Simon
Chinn (Man on Wire) and producer Jonathan Chinn (Whitney). Studio and U.K.
theatrical distributor Altitude is handling global sales and will be releasing
the film theatrically in the U.K. and Ireland.
