Boston Police are investigating a shooting in the Roslindale neighbourhood of the city, which took place on Tuesday. Officers responded to news of shots fired in the area, sometime after 7 PM, to find an individual shot in the arm near 25 Pleasantview Street, off of Cummins Highway.

Local news channel, WHDH, reported that the victim had been shot in the area of their arm, or possibly their hand, and the injuries were not life-threatening. The person was later taken to a hospital and is expected to be okay.

Police did not release any additional information on the individual, or about the shooting.

Boston is in Massachusetts, which has among the strongest gun laws in the country. However, there have been incidents of gun violence in some areas of the city, like Roslindale and Revere. An individual on Twitter commented, “Every night there’s a shooting or stabbing in the neighbourhoods of Boston but a particular street in Roslindale is priority 1 for the BPD to enforce the law.”

In April this year, a man was shot and killed in a Roxbury park. The victim was identified as Bihlal Bell, 31, of Boston. Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden had admitted that there was an increase in the number of shooting incidents due to an uptick in guns on the streets.

Neighbours reported to Boston 25, a local news station, that they heard almost two dozen gunshots. Cops added, “We’re processing a large, a fairly large crime scene that has ballistic evidence to include two firearms”.

A few days back, cops managed to identify a man who had been shot and killed outside a Roslindale gas station. The incident of gun violence left Dreshaun Johnson dead and another man seriously injured. Watson had been mentored at the Roslindale Community Center for a decade, and was remembered fondly.
