Wales manager and former Manchester United midfield icon Ryan Giggs has been arrested on suspicion of assault, reported AFP quoting a UK media outlet.

The Football Association of Wales also issued a statement on the issue and said, “The FAW is aware of an alleged incident involving the National Team Manager, Ryan Giggs. The FAW will be making no further comment at this current time.”

Police were called to the residence of the 46-year-old Ryan Gigg’s late on Sunday following reports of disturbance, reported AFP quoting English media outlet The Sun.

The newspaper reported that the former Manchester United captain was arrested and questioned on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault.

“Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance. A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment,” reported The Sun, quoting the Greater Manchester Police.

It further added, “”A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”

The Wales football association cancelled a press conference that was slated for Tuesday, where coach Giggs was supposed to announce his squad for friendlies against the USA, and nations league fixtures with Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Ryan Giggs who played his entire footballing career for Manchester United also won thirteen premier league titles, raking up as many as 632 appearances for the club in the Premier league. During his career Giggs also won two Champions league titles and our FA Cups and three League Cups.

Giggs was appointed Wales manager in January 2018 and also had a brief stint as Manchester United’s interim manager in 2014.
