On Monday afternoon, a man claiming to be armed with a bomb climbed the iconic Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier. Witnesses reported that the individual had made threats about possessing a bomb shortly after ascending the Ferris wheel.

The Santa Monica Police Department, responding promptly, evacuated Pacific Park and secured the entire pier area. They also dispatched the Crisis Negotiation Team to establish communication with the distressed individual. Despite the challenges of the ongoing noise and commotion, law enforcement maintained a secure perimeter around the pier and collaborated closely with other local law enforcement agencies.

The Santa Monica Police Department alerted the public to the unfolding situation through social media, stating that further updates would be provided via their official channels. As of now, the authenticity of the bomb claim remains unconfirmed, and the individual involved continues to be engaged by negotiators and evaluated by mental health professionals.
