Multimedia messaging app Snapchat has become the next in the line of social media platforms suspending President Donald Trump’s account, in an attempt to limit his reach after the violence at the US Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

“Last week we announced an indefinite suspension of President Trump’s Snapchat account, and have been assessing what long term action is in the best interest of our Snapchat community,” a Snapchat spokesperson said, as per AFP reports.

According to AFP, determining Trump’s attempts to ‘spread misinformation, hate speech, and incite violence’ to be ‘violations’ of their guidelines, the company made the decision to suspend his account permanently.

Several social media giants, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, have limited President Trump’s access to their platforms- either permanently banning through suspension of account or blocking the Republican leader from posting till January 20. A wild mob of right-wing, Pro-Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol complex on January 6, as Congress convened to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s November 3 win.

Trump has been accused of inciting the insurrection, through his belligerent speeches and tweets that claim election fraud.
