In Steph Curry’s own words, he “played like trash” in the Golden State Warriors’ win against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.

Despite scoring a win in the season-opener and going for 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against a star-studded Lakers squad, Curry was critical of his performance during the on-court interview after the game was over.

Curry was 5-of-21 from the field, 2-of-8 from 3-point range with four turnovers and had concerns over some of his sloppy ball-handling.

Despite that he managed to record his first triple-double in over five years with the previous one coming on January 22, 2016 in Indiana (39 points, 12 assists, 10 rebounds).

In his season-opener against the Lakers, Curry made three free throws in the closing seconds of the third quarter after he was fouled taking a 3-pointer, while also managing to give the Warriors some breathing room every time the Lakers came in close to narrow down the lead.

“Obviously, I played like trash,” Curry told TNT’s Allie LaForce during his on-court interview.

“Shot the ball terribly. But if we can win a game like that where we create some good shots and stuck with it defensively against a pretty good team and get a win like that, that’s a good omen for us.”

If Curry can record a triple-double on an “off” night, imagine what he can do when he is feeling it.

Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook, who truly struggled on his Lakers debut, was not in a talkative mood during his post-game interview.

Anthony Davis, who went for 30+ points against the Warriors in the season-opener, said Russ was hard on himself after the loss, and LeBron and him were telling Russ it’s a long process, with a lot ahead.

“We just want him to be himself. …Be Russell Westbrook,” said Davis in his post-game interview.

Westbrook’s response when asked about this exchange after the game – “We talked.”

The new Lakers guard hit just 4-of-13 shots and missed all four of his 3-pointers for eight points, five rebounds, four assists, four turnovers and nothing else in 35 minutes of Tuesday’s loss to the Warriors.
