A suspect was in custody following a possible shooting near Mahany Park in Roseville, California, on Thursday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, the Roseville Police Department said there was a “law enforcement situation near Mahany Park in Roseville. Roseville Police and other law enforcement agencies are on scene stabilizing the situation. The area is safe but please avoid it until further notice. More information will be coming.”

Mahany Fitness Center, Roseville Aquatics Complex and Riley Library were locked down following the alleged shooting.

The Roseville Parks & Recreation Department said, “There is an active police situation in Mahany Park at this time. Mahany Fitness Center, Roseville Aquatics Complex and Riley Library are currently in lockdown. All staff, visitors and children in camps are safe. Please avoid the area and do not attempt to pick up your children from camp until the situation is resolved and we provide further direction.”

In an update, the department said, “Area is now safe but roads are still closed so continue to avoid the area and do not yet attempt to pick up children from camps.”

The Roseville Joint Unified School District also announced that the Woodcreek High School was placed on lockdown due to the shooting. No students or staff were involved or injured in the incident.

According to reports a hostage and a CHP officer were reportedly shot in the incident. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the same.
