Texas Senator Ted Cruz was so angry at President Joe Biden’s alcohol “guidelines” that he proceeded to drink beer on air awkwardly just to protest the same on Wednesday. Needless to say his stunt was mocked online.

“What is it with liberals that want to control every damn aspect of your life?” said Cruz during an interview with Newsmax TV host Eric Bolling on Wednesday. “One of the first things they wanted to do was ban gas stoves. New York state has now done that for new construction. They’re trying to go after and regulate ceiling fans. I’ll tell you, it’s hot in Texas, we don’t want to get rid of our ceiling fans.”

“And now these idiots have come out and said, ‘drink two beers a week,’ that’s their guideline,” Cruz continued, before reaching for a bottle of beer. “Well, I’ve got to tell you, if they want us to drink two beers a week, frankly they can kiss my a**!”

At the same time, he proceeded to open the bottle and take an awkward sip. Here is the video:

Cruz was incessantly trolled for the stunt. “This pathetic display proves that Ted Cruz is the thirstiest motherf***er on the planet. But it ain’t for beer,” one of the users said, while another noted, “This is the corniest s**t I’ve ever seen. Priceton grad Ted Cruz tries to look like a tough guy about a fake story—dropping a ‘kiss my a**’ and taking a sip of beer in unison with his tough guy ‘friends.'”

A third wrote, “Has anyone ever looked less tough than Ted Cruz did here?” One more tweeted, “Political theater here from Ted Cruz: “If they want us to drink two beers a week, they can kiss my a**.” HE KNOWS THERE IS NO MANDATE IN THE WORKS TO REDUCE HOW MUCH BEER YOU CAN DRINK. HE’S PLAYING TO THE IDIOTS IN HIS BASE.”

Just to clarify, there is no governmental guideline in place that restricts Americans to just “two beers a week” in spite of Cruz insisting otherwise. However, the administration has recommended that adult men should limit alcoholic drinks to two or less per day. At the same time, adult women should stick to one or less per day.

It all seems to have started when earlier this week, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre whether the POTUS wants to “limit Americans to two beers a week.” Despite there being no just plan being put in place, Jean-Pierre declined comment.

George Koob, director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, later told Daily Mail that the recommendations can end up changing eventually.

“I mean, they’re not going to go up, I’m pretty sure,” he told the newspaper. At the same time, he noted that Canada’s guidelines currently recommend a limit of two drinks per week, adding that the US recommendations could move more in that direction but not before 2025.
