Thanksgiving 2021 brings
with it a forecast of rain and chilly winds in several parts of the United
States. South Texas is likely to experience rain and thunderstorm as cold front
move to bring showers. Road closures due to flooding is likely, according to
the National Weather Office located in Corpus Christi. Thanksgiving is a time
when millions of Americans gear up to travel and the weather promises to be a
roller-coaster.

Wednesday is
expected to see windy conditions from Michigan to Texas. Blustery winds of 20
to 30 miles per hour throughout the day may cause chills in Chicago, St. Louis,
Dallas and Oklahoma City. By evening, the weather system is likely to relocate
into the Midwest.

Michigan,
Wisconsin and Illinois may see rain, snow and even ice, making it dangerous to
travel by air or via road. Snow showers are likely in Denver and Salt Lake
City. The combination of low temperatures and wind could produce cold chills
across the northern tier, the weather office said.

By Thursday
however, temperatures are likely to return to normal in US’ eastern half. New
York will see temperatures around 5 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile,
Americans seem keen to travel despite the difficult weather. Air travellers
this week are expected to approach and even exceed pre-pandemic levels,
according to predictions.

While the pandemic
stymied travel plans last year, Americans have decided to fight the weather to
travel this time around. One of the things that is encouraging people to leave
their residences to travel is that nearly 200 million Americans are now fully
vaccinated against COVID-19.

Despite
vaccination, the US is currently averaging 100,000 new infections per day.
Hospitals in Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado and Arizona are seeing an alarming
rise in patients, according to an Associated Press report.
