Amid reports that another attack on
the US Capitol was being planned ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, Donald
Trump issued a statement, asking his supporters to not indulge in any such
activities.

“In
light of reports of more demonstrations, I urge that there must be NO violence,
NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind,” he said in a statement on
Wednesday.

“That
is not what I stand for, and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL
Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers,” he added.

The statement was also read out by Representative Jim Jordan during Trump’s impeachment Debate.

Last week, thousands of
Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Hill as Congress convened to validate Joe
Biden’s presidential win. This violent resulted in the deaths of five people,
including an officer of the US Capitol Police.

On
Monday, the FBI reported it has received information about another “armed
protest” being planned at the US Capitol in Washington and all 50 state
capitols ahead of Biden’s swearing-in, which is scheduled for January 20.
