Amanda Gorman, the first national youth poet laureate, gave the most notable and stand-out performance at the Presidential inauguration at the US Capitol before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took their oaths, reported CNN.

The 22-year-old read out her famous poem “The Hill We Climb”, which is known to project a feeling of unity and togetherness. Moreover, the vibrant choice of outfit and jewelry created a buzz in the audience.

Gorman, who became the youngest poet to perform at a Presidential inauguration, wore a yellow double-breasted coat designed by Miuccia Prada along with a red satin headband from the same designer. Gorman said the yellow coat was a symbolic gesture and a nod to the First Lady of the US, Jill Biden, who invited the poet to perform.

In addition to the outfit, Gorman’s choice of jewelry has an interesting story too. The pair of golden hoop earrings and the ring worn by the young artist was gifted to her by Oprah Winfrey, who claims to be a fan of Gorman’s work, reported CNN.

Gorman told Vogue, “Fashion has so much meaning to me, and it’s my way to lean into the history that came before me and all the people supporting me.”
