Upset over having no nominations despite having multiple
hits over the last year, The Weeknd on Tuesday attacked the international music
awards committee, calling them ‘corrupt’.
“The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the
industry transparency …” he tweeted on Tuesday.
The three-time winner of the Grammy criticized the Recording
Academy on Tuesday after being left out of nominations in spite of having one
of the biggest albums of the year in ‘After Hours’.
The specialities of the singer from Toronto include a
mixture of Pop and R&B (Rhythm and Blues) genres. He also topped the
Billboard Top 100 chart with ‘Blinding Lights’ and ‘Heartless’.

The recording academy’s currently ousted CEO accused the
group of not engaging in a transparent selection process and having conflict of
interest less than a year ago.
“You know there’s so many nominations and there’s only so
many slots, it’s really tough to predict what the voters are going to vote for
in any given year,” interim President and CEO of the recording Academy, Harvey
Mason Jr, said in an interview conducted recently.

Alongside Weeknd, Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen also did not
get any nominations, wherein both had a largely successful year in Country
music charts in 2020.
Justin Beiber, having been selected for four nominations
this year, took up the issue of his fifth studio-album ‘Changes’ being
nominated as a Pop album. On Instagram, he claimed that Changes was meant to be an R&B
project rather than a Pop album.
“Changes was and is an R&B album. It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album which is very strange to me”, Bieber wrote.
