A group of 30 people broke into a Best Buy store on Friday, November 26, 2021, to steal electronics, and left before the law enforcement could arrive. 

The alleged thieves arrived at the store located in Burnsville, Minnesota around 8 pm.

The Burnsville Police Department said, “A group of 20-30 people reportedly entered the open Best Buy and stole electronics.  There were no weapons displayed and no one was injured. No one is in custody and the investigation is ongoing. It is currently unknown exactly what or how much was taken.”

A similar incident took place on the same day at another Best Buy store in Maplewood, Minnesota. In this particular incident, six individuals robbed the store and subsequently left on their vehicles. 

Such mass robberies have become a frequent incident in the US and Black Friday happened to aggravate the situation. Best Buy has claimed that the frequent thefts at its multiple outlets is leading to considerable losses, impacting the company’s bottom line.

 Corie Barry, the Chief Executive Officer of Best Buy said, “We are definitely seeing more and more particularly organized retail crime and incidents of shrink in our locations. This is a real issue that hurts and scares real people.”

Apart from the theft that took place on Black Friday at the Minnesota Best Buy Store, other retailers were also robbed. On the same day eight people committed theft at a Home Depot store located in Lakewood, California.

In the above incident, the department said that the thieves “selected various hammers, sledgehammers and crowbars approximate value of 400 dollars. The suspect(s) were then seen exiting the store with the selected items and possibly entering a red in color Mercedes Benz with severe damage to the front of the vehicle.”
