Prominent Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson is being trolled on social media for saying, “Trump was criminally charged because he’s planning to challenge Joe Biden in the presidential election. It’s that simple.”
Carlson continued saying, “If Donald Trump had retired in 2020, would he have been arraigned today? Of course not. Top Democrats know that some effectively admitted, the liberal blog Politico this morning ran a piece describing what it called ‘President Joe Biden’s most senior advisors predicting that Trump will be the Republican nominee and because he’s now been charged with crimes, he will lose the general election.”
Social media users corrected and ridiculed Carlson in multiple tweets. Here’s a few-

In Manhattan criminal court on Tuesday afternoon, Trump entered a not guilty plea to 34 felony charges of falsifying business documents.
During a historic and first-ever court appearance on Tuesday, Trump surrendered and was put under custody before being charged and hearing the allegations against him for the first time. Although the hearing was routine, the case is now likely to affect Trump’s bid for president in 2024 as he defends himself both in court and in public.
The 2016 election was allegedly tainted by a hush money plan in which payments were made to women who claimed to have had extramarital affairs with Trump, according to the prosecution. He has refuted the relationships.
Prosecutors claimed that Trump participated in an illegal scheme to bury damaging information, including a $130,000 payment that was illegally ordered to be made by the defendant to cover up information that would have harmed his campaign.

Immediately following his arraignment, Trump took a flight return to Florida. Trump hosted a gathering with his supporters on Tuesday night at his Mar-a-Lago resort, where he presented a public defense of the charges and gave a sneak peek at his political strategy should he decide to run for president again in 2024.
