A member of parliament in Ukraine has said that US President Joe Biden isn’t doing enough to help the war-torn nation, which has been dealing with a Russian invasion since February 24.

Inna Sovsun commented after Biden’s speech during his Europe trip, the first since the war began. The Ukrainian MP tweeted “I’ll be blunt. I did not hear a single word from the US President that would make me, as Ukrainian feel reassured that the West will help us more than doing right now (which is not enough). I am happy he reassured Poland, but the bombs are exploding in Kyiv, and Kharkiv, not in Warsaw”.

As part of his tour, Biden met top Ukrainian officials in Poland, apart from having talks with European Union (EU) and NATO allies. Thereafter, the American head of state warned “Don’t even think about moving on one single inch of NATO territory”.

In Poland, Biden also met with Ukrainian refugees, wherein he called Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin a butcher, and said he cannot be allowed to remain in power.

Since then, the White House has backtracked on Biden’s statement saying the US president didn’t indicate a regime change in Moscow but rather meant that Putin shouldn’t be allowed to exercise power.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier expressed his dissatisfaction with NATO in the way they handled the situation. Despite sending aid to Ukraine, NATO members have been firm on avoiding direct conflict with Russian troops. This has led them to deny Zelensky a no-fly zone over Ukraine, despite Russian shelling leading to dire conditions in places like Mariupol

Recently, Zelensky even gave the military organization an ultimatum, asking them to decide whether Ukraine is wanted as a member. At the same time, he addressed Kremlin, saying a ceasefire agreement in exchange for Ukraine not joining NATO would be open to discussion. Since then, Kremlin, too, has expressed a desire for more active and substantial talks on Ukraine.
