Mykhailo Podoliak, a Ukrainian negotiator, claimed on Twitter that the Ukraine-Russia negotiations have been put on “technical pause” until Tuesday.

“For additional work in the working subgroups and clarification of individual definitions. Negotiations continue,” Podoliak said.

Podoliak stated that the fourth session would take place digitally, rather than in person, with the Ukrainian negotiating team in Kyiv.

On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that “difficult talks” are underway with Russia, following the start of a fourth session of talks earlier in the day.

“Difficult talks continue. Everybody is waiting for news. This evening we will report on the outcome,” Zelensky said in a video message.

Zelensky was scheduled to speak at the Council of Europe earlier in the day on Monday, but he did not appear.

The Ukrainian side’s principal negotiator in negotiations with Russia had stated that the fourth round will be done virtually rather than in person. Ukraine’s negotiating delegation is now in Kyiv. Previously, talks were held in Belarus.

Podoliak, the Ukrainian negotiator, tweeted a photo from the meetings.

“The parties actively express their specified positions. Communication is being held yet it’s hard. The reason for the discord is too different political systems. Ukraine is a free dialogue within the society & an obligatory consensus. Russia is an ultimatum suppression of its own society,” he said along with the image.
