According to the victim’s father, Kaylee Goncalves, Moscow police believe that only one of the four University of Idaho students who were fatally stabbed in an off-campus rental property was the intended “target” of the quadruple killings.

Officials have called the attack “targeted” ever since law enforcement made the terrible finding on November 13 but have refused to say how they came to that decision.

Steve Goncalves remarked on Wednesday, “I’ve been told it’s one, but then again, there’s the bigness like it’s purposefully big,” as per Independent.

Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin are all suspected of being the target, however it is unclear who exactly they are targeting or what their motivation might be.

Police are still looking into reports that Goncalves had a stalker; however, they have not been able to confirm or disprove this claim.

Nearly two weeks into the investigation, authorities are also looking into a possible connection between the killings and an Oregon stabbing murder that remains unsolved from 2021. The mother of the Oregon victim expressed hope for investigators to find answers for all five of the dead people in a statement to The Independent on Thursday.

There are currently many competing theories that suggest a third unsolved stabbing case may be connected to the deaths of the four University of Idaho students.

This week, comparisons were made between a knife attack on a young couple in Oregon on November 13, 2021, and the 400-mile-away Moscow stabbing deaths of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin on November 13.

Back on August 13, 2021, a masked intruder broke into the home of Travis Juetten, then 26 years old, and his wife Jamilyn Juetten, then 24. The assailant then entered their bedroom and stabbed them both numerous times with a knife.
